A special project, named "Soon we will become a song" will be broadcasted with the joint efforts of Galai Tzahal radio station and Reshet TV on Remembrance Day. Famous Israeli artists will sing songs that were written by IDF casualties. The program will be broadcasted on Wednesday, 7th May 2008, On Galai Tzahal radio station between 14:00-16:00 and on Reshet, channel 2 TV at 18:45.
The remembrance project is initiated by Galai Tzahal and will be presented by Golan Yohpaz. This year is the sixth year at which this project takes place and it has become one of the major characteristics of Remembrance Day. Each year Galai Tzahal, the IDF radio station, gathers texts written by IDF casualties from archives, casualty officers, bereaved family and friends. The texts are passed on to top Israeli artists, who compose and perform the songs.
This year, the project will mark 60 years of Independence and for the first time will include songs from all the wars, from the escort convoy that left to besieged Gush Etzion at 1948 and until the fighting at Bint Jbeil, during the 2nd Lebanon War.
Among the artists who will participate this year in the project - Shlomo Artzi, Knesiyat Hasechel, Shlomi Shaban, Yoni Bloch, Ran Danker & Iili Botner, Cobi Aflalo, Kfir Epstein, Amir Benayun, Danny Robas and more.
In previous years Israel's best artists participated, voluntarily, in this unique commemoration project, including: Aric Einstein, Yehodit Ravitz, Ehud Banai, Bari Saharof, Gali Atari, Rami Kleinstein, Korin El Al, Evyatar Banai, Eti Ankri, Shiri Maymon and others.
