The project "Six Decades, Six Museums" is the result of cooperation between the 60's headquarters, The Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport, the Culture Administration, the Department of Museums and Plastic Art and participating museums supported by private and governmental bodies.
The project will lead to cooperation, for the first time, between the six leading museums in Israel: each and every one of them will show an exhibition that will be dedicated to another decade in Israel's history. The exhibitions will present a comprehensive report and new insight about art in Israel during the last sixty years. Top Israeli curators - senior, young, independent and those working on behalf of public institutions are in charge of accumulating the art pieces shown. Some chose to depict a broad perspective of the period they portray; others focused on a certain subject or generation of artists who they perceive expresses that particular period in time in the best way.
