The festive opening ceremony of the festival was carried out at Gan Hapisga, the new amphitheater in Jaffa, on the 22^nd of April. Among the participants were the Raanana symphony orchestra, the young rock band "The Groveatron" and also theater players who performed at the present festival and previous festivals.

On the occasion of the Theaterneto Festival, students from Seminar Hakibutzim college, with the artistic management of the decorator Frida Shoham, performed colorful outdoor shows at the streets of the old city of Jaffa. The college students conducted an artistic Hyde Park under the title "Israel's birthday", making reference to relevant topics such as: foreign workers, the elderly and more. An artist faire has been established at the church area and guided tours were carried out for the open public.

Six actors came from abroad in order to participate at the festival performances including: Sarah Jones and Amy Saville from the USA, Kesby Bobes from Spain, Birota Mer from Lithuania, Anna Mala from Turkmenistan and Yoni Dahar from Norway. In addition eight original Israeli plays participated in competition awarding the Theaterneto prize named after Nisim Azikri worth 10,000 NIS.
