This educational project is the first of its kind. The unique event, which will be conducted on the 26th of March 2008 will include the arrival of soldiers and commanders from different divisions of the IDF to high schools all over Israel: the air force, the navy, officers academy, armored forces, artillery corps and engineering forces will all be visiting schools.
Approximately 8,000 officers and non-commissioned officers from all divisions will come to the schools and meet over 300,000 pupils and 1,500 school managers and teachers in order to salute and show their respect and appreciation of the Israeli education system and its teachers.
The meeting between the military system and the education system will include joint activities focusing on national values and strengthening the national pride in the country's accomplishments and Israeli areas of activity.
The project started as day long events honoring and saluting head members of the Israeli education system. The Air Force bases are currently hosting teachers and education system mangers in order to learn about the operational activity that takes place at their bases along with the educational activities, the values and legacy of the Air Force. In addition, an Air Force team will be dedicated to teaching and presenting its legacy to all the Air Force's divisions and branches.
The project is one of dozens of events that will take place in the IDF this year as part of 60 years to Israel's independence. The majority of the events, as defined by the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi, will be strengthening the obligation the people of Israel and the IDF have to the State of Israel, the Israeli society and to the IDF and to strengthen the sense of calling and importance of serving in the IDF. As part of these events, the IDF will pay respect to Israel's impressive accomplishments in a range of fields in the sixty years of its existence: in security, financially, socially, educationally, culturally and more.
